Water and Environment Joint Stock Company (WACO) has recently been awarded Tender Package No. 2 “Construction of Kenh Dong Water Treatment Plant and installation of D1200 mm pipeline” under Kenh Dong Water Supply System Project in Thuong Hamlet, Tan Thong Hoi Commune, Cu Chi District, HCMC.

The tender package, worth totally nearly VND216 billion, was awarded to WACO as its major procurement and construction contractor. Upon completion, Kenh Dong Water Treatment Plant will have a capacity of 200,000 m3/day. Main construction items include a raw water intake pumping station, a filter tank, a 20,000-m3 reinforced concrete reservoir, a treated water pumping station, a treatment system, a 13km-long D1200 mm pipeline, technical tunnels and drains, mechanical and electrical systems, dynamoelectric systems, control systems, etc. The project will be implemented for 16 months (from 2008 to 2009) and has a guarantee period of 2 years.

The Kenh Dong Water Supply Project is invested with VND956 billion by Kenh Dong Water Supply Joint Stock Company (WASS) under the guideline of HCMC People’s Committee. This project consists of three subprojects: a raw water reservoir of 1.25 million cubic meters’ volume; a water treatment plant with the capacity of 200,000 m3/day and 13 kilometers of D1200 mm pipeline delivering clean water to Tan Hiep Water Treatment Plant; and 11 kilometers of water pipes from Tan Hiep to An Suong (Hoc Mon District) and Tay Thanh (Cu Chi District). The project covers around 50 ha of land and is expected to operate for 50 years as of the date of issue of Investment License (August 20, 2007).
