WACO has been approved by Can Tho City People’s Committee on investment in the improvement of capacity of Can Tho Water Treatment Plant No. 2 from 40,000 to 60,000 m3/day. This is a BOT water treatment plant investment project with an estimated operation period of 15 years. The project is located in Binh Thuy District of Can Tho City.

Raw water will be taken from the surface water resources of Hau River; treatment technologies to be used include mixing, clarification, filtration, sterilization and stabilization. Main construction items include a raw water intake pumping station, a raw water pipeline, a mixing and flow splitting tank, an accelerator tank, a filter, a sludge settler, mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as ancillary works like a chemical house, fence & gate, groundleveling, a provisional generator, a warehouse, an administration house, internal roads, verdure, water drainage system, etc.

The project is planned for implementation for two years, from 2008 to 2009, and expected to start operation from 2010. WACO, the investor, will directly implement and manage the project. WACO has established C.T. WACO Water Supply BOT Co., Ltd. for this purpose.

Once launched, this project will help increase the total water supply of the whole area of Binh Thuy and Ninh Kieu Districts, Can Tho City to 120,000 m3/day, satisfying the increasing demands for clean water in the area and benefiting nearly 200,000 people.
